You all know I'm addicted to Masterpiece Theatre, Jane Austen, and most literary adaptations I can get my hands on. Therefore I must implore my lovely family to partake of Masterpiece's latest offering: Emma.
You can watch the latest installment on their website: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/emma/watch.html
PLEASE watch it, so I can call you and discuss it with you. I'm ready to explode with comments and no one to talk to. As Lord Goring says in An Ideal Husband: "It is a great nuisance. I can't find anyone else to talk to. [he's talking to a marble bust at this point] I'm so full of interesting information, I feel like the latest edition of something or other."

I watched the first installment earlier this week--wondered when the next one would be broadcast. So far, all I have to say is, "ehh".
That was my initial reaction too. However, the more I watch it, the more I appreciate it. (I find that is generally the way I approach re-interpretations of literary adaptations.) I couldn't help compare it to the Gweneth Paltrow version. But I adore this Knightley. He's really growing on me.
*sigh* we should really do this over the phone.
how embarassing that i misspelled "masterpiece" in the title of this post.
however, this comment gives me a chance to remind you all to watch the last hour of the emma production tonight.
seriously.
i'm needy.
Wouldn't miss it! I have gone from a tepid interest to wanting to schedule my day around it. Brings back the old days (before youtube) when one had to wait 'til next week for more...
As the really old Batman series used to say each week, "Same Bat time, same Bat channel!" :)
