A fabulous day

So today started out kind of crazy, but throughout the day several cool things happened that I am excited to share.
  • Around 3, our VP randomly told me how much she appreciated me/my work and that she had just received a call from the marketing department singing my praises. Unexpected, but very nice.
  • I went to check on my student loans, and this is what I saw:

In case you can't read that lovely image, the balance is $0! Now, we knew that this was going to happen this month, but it's still super exciting.
  • I got home from work and got the mail. What was inside? The title to my car, freshly changed to our names. Hurray for Shiny Pete!
With all this excitement, I felt we would actually have something to contribute to this fabulous blog.

for Taya: A Confession

I admit it! I name dropped today. I was in one of a million meetings today (or so it seemed) with the new faculty on campus and found myself at a table with three new music faculty (a bassist, a tuba-ist (?), and a vocalist). I had a legitimate question (I think) about their music programs, then just happened to let it slip that I have this sister in a masters program in piano performance.

"Oh really?" one asked with only slight interest, probably thinking I was a poser just trying to fit in. "Where is she studying?"

"Um, in Indiana... um, Bloomington" (I didn't realize I could just say Indiana and I would get the appropriate response).

"Really?" now impressed and with genuine interest. "She must be really something. That's quite good!"

I already new this, of course, but I thought I should pass on that I let those musicians know that I was related to greatness. They were duly impressed.

A review at the end of year 3

Yesterday was our third anniversary. Hooray us. So what do ridiculously poor Cammacks do for their third anniversary?
  • Zach buys Zan a single rose (only the second time in our illustrious relationship that Zach has ever bought me flowers),
  • then the kids head to one of the many local courts for a wicked game of tennis (playing with rackets that are quite possibly as old as I am (thanks Mum!) and playing potentially one of the worst matches in history. I have only played tennis one other time in my life, but I find that since the epic Wimbeldon game between Federer and Nadal (which I watched in it's entirety) I have a new found respect for the sport and decided to give it a go. I enjoy it immensely, as does Sir Zachary, but our match lasted nearly as long as the Wimbeldon epic merely because we were so bad we spent most of our time chasing down errant balls),
  • washing up and going to one of Rexburg's local diners which features menu items such as "the scrap-heap" and "the dirty Trevor" (the theme was construction...how quaint)
  • and topping off the evening with snow cone happiness.

You might not have needed the blow-by-blow, but it was a lovely day and I can't believe it's been three years. Sometimes is seems longer and at the same time it feels like we're still new at this whole "playing house" game. I love my wee boyfriend dearly and look forward to year 4...it promises to be very exciting.

Forgive the sappiness.

Liv Tyler and David Beckham: all in the family

You've gotta check out this good, old-fashioned, facial recognition fun!

Dear Perfect one,
I must admit that I hoped to be provocative myself, but seeing the small :( , i am worried that perhaps my post was taken the wrong way, or is the perfect child simply trying to avoid conflict now? that would be a bit too perfect. I suppose that that is why I am simply known as "the grimy one."

The Wardell outpost

I am new to this, so forgive me if I sound like an idiot!

My kids started school this Thursday and both are loving it. Erica is in Third grade and Michael is in Kindergarten. Can you believe that I now have two kids in school. Ashley will be starting Preschool in September and she is soooooooo excited about going. She even has a Dora backpack to take to school.
I got a job after taking the summer off. I get to work with patients who have cancer. They have the funniest sense of humor, when they have one.
Anyway, Curtis also just got a NEW job, with Sysco Foods, so now he gets Friday and Saturday off and we actually get to see him.
I am glad that we are going to be able to keep up with each other. Grandma Marvetta always asks what the news is about you all. I always sound stupid when I tell her that I am behind the times, always.
How often should I look at this, and when should I post, just when I have news?

Love you guys and gals.

Love Big Sis

Kathrine

I got a pretty little piano!!!

What is meant to serve as a spirited rallying cry, but comes off as a rather garbled bit of rubbish

Having received a thumbs up from the Mumsical in Chief, I have taken the liberty of starting a familial blog. New as I am to the world of blogging, I understand that it has many virtues: namely, the ability to update several people about my daily drivel with little inconvenience to myself...or those I wish to impose upon.

That being said, I propose that this blog, aptly named the Council of the Soderquist Clan (though I am perfectly willing to entertain other titles, but let's be honest, that one rocks pretty hard), be a way for our widespread branches of the clan to communicate across the span and to keep us all up to date on each others doings. I propose that we each take it in turn to post to the blog from our several exotic locales. I also propose that the Mumsical in Chief be named blog-master as we all know her to be the one with magical mumsical intuition and the one with her finger on the pulse of everything clan related. I bow to her prowess. Let's put it to a vote: all in favor of Mumsical as Master respond to this blog immediately!

As an aside I feel I should point out that our young Trevor does not seem to think that electronic communication is important enough to merit an email address of any form. His shocking lack of proper youthful pride in forays into the electronic world leave me flummoxed! Has he no shame? I ask that we all put insane amounts of peer pressure upon the young bloke until he caves. I could say the same for our dear padre, but I think he has immunity through article 9 of the Clan's constitution: he's hitched to the Mumsical in Chief.

As a second aside: call me if you are nervous about this new venture and have queries. I'm totally juiced about this blog idea of mine and want you all on board.
