I admit it! I name dropped today. I was in one of a million meetings today (or so it seemed) with the new faculty on campus and found myself at a table with three new music faculty (a bassist, a tuba-ist (?), and a vocalist). I had a legitimate question (I think) about their music programs, then just happened to let it slip that I have this sister in a masters program in piano performance.
"Oh really?" one asked with only slight interest, probably thinking I was a poser just trying to fit in. "Where is she studying?"
"Um, in Indiana... um, Bloomington" (I didn't realize I could just say Indiana and I would get the appropriate response).
"Really?" now impressed and with genuine interest. "She must be really something. That's quite good!"
I already new this, of course, but I thought I should pass on that I let those musicians know that I was related to greatness. They were duly impressed.
