Elder Brandon K Soderquist arrived safely in Sao Paulo! I got a call yesterday afternoon shortly after 3:00. This is so new to me--I find myself unable to concentrate on anything else for very long. His address is:

I was told to communicate through US mail only during his MTC (CTM) stay. No packages, please. They would not be delivered to him, and when he is assigned to his first area, they would open the package and divide contents among needy missionaries in the MTC. Interestingly, he met only one other missionary at the airport in Dallas. They travelled together and are companions. The branch president's wife who called me said that 7 other missionaries are stuck in Provo, awaiting visa clearance. (And I complained about the extended wait.......) Thank goodness Brand was able to leave as scheduled. Sister Christopherson also said that he has the best teacher in the CTM for Portuguese, and that with only 2 in the class they should get plenty of individual help. Brand should be able to email me after he attends the temple on his pday, which should be a Tuesday or Wednesday. I was assured that they have loving Branch Presidents, delicious food in the Cafeteria and a full time doctor on staff at all times (insert happy face)!
I was encouraged to get the letters coming!

Thanks for letting us all know he's there safely and his address. I am so excited for him and for the time he's going to have.
Now if the photographer would post our photos...
