Last night we told Mom and Dad our little secret--we’re having a baby!
Baby Mabey is due mid May, which means we’re almost through the first trimester. We went in to the doctor on Friday for our first appointment, and so far so good. Hooray for ultrasounds that make the baby more real through visuals. It’s seriously cool to watch the fetus inside you move and see a tiny heart beating, not to mention seeing tiny hands and legs in profile. I had to have my blood drawn, and it was touch-and-go for a few minutes—okay a lot of minutes. I even had Chad there holding my hand and getting me snacks from my purse. I’m not looking forward to the rest of the lab work I have to have done next week, but hopefully after that they’ll stop poking me for a while. Some fears don’t just go away.
Hooray for the thought of NOT being nauseated most of my day (hopefully starting soon). Luckily, I have only thrown up once—the day before the test confirmed what we had thought for almost two weeks. Since then I am constantly eating little snacks to keep the nausea from turning into something nasty. I am honestly tired of eating, but oh well. It won’t last forever.
Hooray for a wonderful husband who has been taking such good care of me. Evenings are the worst so far, and Chad has carried me to bed a lot lately since I tend to lay down when I don’t feel well and then I’m just out. And he’s done a ton of other wonderful things other than putting me to bed, for which I’m equally as grateful. What a nice boy.
Kathrine, we’re doing our part to add cousins based on your previous complaint. You’ll have to be a little patient though, since we’re doing this one at a time (thank goodness).
Zan and Kara, your “we’re waiting for Lisa” excuse for not starting a family is no longer valid. In fact, I think that means you’re now obligated. That’ll teach you for using your sister as a scapegoat.

Huzzah! Hooray! Wahoo!
You were so coy last time we broached the subject. I am so excited for you two. It makes my heart happy. A wee baby Mabey. :)
Congratulations! That is so exciting.
I have honestly gotten direct questions about being pregnant for months now (When are you going to have kids? Everyone I know is pregnant; are you? So-and-so thinks you're pregnant. etc.) that I'm getting good at changing the subject. Coy is good until you want to divulge secrets. :)
WOOT WOOT!! How come i'm the last one to post? I feel lame. and Scapegoat? never. We were just allowing you the chance to be first should you choose. and lets be honest, Didn't a little tiny part of you really want to be first anyways? I thought so. :) I'm just kidding. We were using you as a scapegoat. I can't wait to see your prego belly! We'll be home sometime over christmas so make sure to really bulk up before then so it looks impressive. :) We're so happy for you!!
